M ould, commonly known as Black Mould or Stachybotrys, is the most common type of toxic mold found in the environment. Black mold grows on a variety of objects including food, wood, cardboard, carpet and drywall. A healthy micro-organism, mould cannot survive without the help of oxygen, carbon dioxide or water. Mould starts to grow when organic matter such as food, drinks or urine is mixed with dampness or humidity. As soon as mold spores are present in the air they will begin to multiply and flourish, eventually forming a slimy coating.
